Have you ever looked up at the night sky just after sunset and think you see a star moving across the sky? Well this is just one of tens of thousands of near earth objects (NEOs) that are orbiting the earth. After purchasing a telescope, attaching a camera and setting it on they sky we first had a serendipitous observation of a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite through our field-of-view. This immediately got us thinking about everything else that may be flying around up there from satellites to meteorites. We thought how great it would be to have a global network of autonomous observatories and sensors to monitor the objects orbiting us, most of them instrumental in our day-to-day lives. At the time we felt it was a moonshot.
This was back in 2011. Fast forward to today and we have deployed a fully robotic and autonomous global telescope network. With the observatories constructed, we now oversee the maintenance and operation of each site to maintain our operational excellence.
